I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Here are my thoughts …
… The Apostles’ Creed is a concise statement of what Catholics believe and it covers quite a lot. … How does this differ from the Nicene Creed? … Reminds me that the Communion of Saints is a spiritual union that binds together the faithful on earth, the souls in purgatory and the saints in heaven.
The Apostles’ Creed is from the First or Second century – older than the Nicene creed. (Shorter also – the Nicene Creed said during mass each week was created by a ‘committee!’)
? What do you think of when you say it? What phrase stands out?
